I just got back from the second time at Kittys Road since the Americans left. These visits more than ever have shown me just how far the bridge has been built and how strong the relationships are between us and them. There no longer is an us and them, we get treated like family just like the rest of the community. From entering the centre until leaving the craic never ends. As soon as you sit down a delicious cup of tea is thrust in front of you and the conversation soon follows from Kellie, Suzanne, Laura and Jane. Today we discussed the lottery, tattoos, baby bumps and many other random things. It is true to say there is never a dull moment in that community centre. When the grown ups then got into their chitty chat Emma, Heather, Caolan, Whitey and I began our own. They are both very decent lads, easy to talk to and great at having a laugh. We didn't really talk about much in particular but it was great nonetheless.
I really look forward to going down that wee road and interacting with all the people. They are so welcoming and will make sure you never feel left out or not included. I really hope that we can maintain this connection when school and work start up, because it's great when people ask, "How did Kittys Road go?" to be able to respond, "It's going great, it's not a once a year thing, we're still at it."
I don't know if this post really justifies how I feel about that road and the people, but for now this'll have to do.
