Boxing Day Mayhem.

(So this is my first ever blog post on my new and very much my own Laptop, aww I am so happy!)

Waking up late after a day of utter chaos. Christmas Day= when you can justify waking up at 6.45am. Feeling the results of singing one too many Christmas Carols, eating one too many roast potatoes and realising you were shouting too loud when playing Charades. Boxing Day is the day you can finally enjoy your gifts in a 'normal everyday situation'. Because let's face it Christmas Day always has a 'make-believe' feel to it.
I love the Boxing Day Discovery. When you find a present you almost forgot about in all the excitement of Christmas and can take it out and enjoy it too. This year my B.D.D is a game on the Wii (my brother got for Christmas) that I didn't realise we had. Christmas was brilliant this year, everyone was very pleased with their gifts, the Christmas Dinner was extra lovely and meeting up with the family is always good craic.
Another brilliant thing about Boxing Day is the leftover dinner. It always seems like mums cook loads of Christmas dinner and you end up having leftovers on Boxing Day a little bit of stuffing, gravy and turkey on the day after Boxing Day and then you'll be eating turkey sandwiches for a good week to come.
The other side of your family that comes to visit is always a plus on Boxing Day. And it's even more brilliant if your relatives bring you a present that they couldn't get to you before Christmas Day. So another round of Charades, Shloer and Pringles will be dished out on Boxing Day and then you can finally settle and get your list wrote for next year.

Oh yeah, why is it called Boxing Day? Is it because of all the boxes left from Christmas Day? Hmm...

Jules.

It's because boxing day was originally a day for giving small gifts in boxes.
